This situation made Sliverstone considered to have a poor drainage system. The track surface cannot hold heavy rain spills and cause inundation. Carmelo Ezpeleta, boss of MotoGP promoter Dorna, said that re-paving is a prerequisite for Silverstone to keep trust in the race in 2020. Reclaiming is also a requirement to maintain the FIM Grade A license needed to host the MotoGP race. "Up to this point, it has involved a lot of work by staff at Silverstone.
